A Must-Read New Adoption Book!

Tapestry Books recently added the book ‘What Do I Say Now? Answers for Awkward Questions and Comments About Adoption‘. This book is a must-read for adoptive parents, adoptees, and adoption agencies anywhere. Author of this book, has written some insight into this book below!

“My dream for a family in the early 1970s was to have one biological child and adopt eleven other children, all from different countries and ethnic backgrounds. This was the dream of a young idealistic hippie.

Adopting was always part of my plan so it wasn’t a big step for me to take when I realized I couldn’t have a biological child. My husband and I never considered adopting a Caucasian baby; adopting a child of color was our first choice. Nine months after filing papers for adoption, we received a call asking if we were interested in a newborn bi-racial girl. I was more than interested, I was ecstatic. We met Lienne when she was ten days old and I immediately fell deeply in love. This thirty-six year old woman is now the loving mother of four wonderful children.

It took us nine and a half years to adopt our second child. Maturity and the practicalities and realities of life made me relinquish my idealistic dream of being the mother to twelve children. Lienne desperately wanted a sister that looked liked her. Sophie was five days old when she became ours and I immediately fell in love with a baby who has now grown into the talented woman who is the illustrator of this book.” (
