Happy Hanukkah!

On behalf of the Tapestry Books team, Happy Hanukkah! In celebration of the start of Hanukkah tonight, Tapestry Books is highlighting 5 books that center on Jewish holidays and adoption. All of these books can be found on Tapestry Books!

– “Hanukkah!” by Roni Schotter – This winner of the National Jewish Book Award tells the story of a family’s Hanukkah celebration, including spinning dreidels, making latkes, and lighting the menorah. This book is ideal for children aging from 2 to 6 years old!
– “My Two Holidays: A Hanukkah and Christmas Story” by Danielle Novack – This book describes the story of Sam when one day in school, he learns about the various holidays his classmates celebrate. He discovers that opposed to his friends, Sam celebrates both Christmas and Hanukkah.
– “Latke, the Lucky Dog” by Ellen Fischer – Rescued by his family on the first night of Hanukkah, Latke the puppy begins to learn the rules of the house as well as the meaning behind the Hanukkah celebration. Told from Latke’s perspective, this book is a great resource about Hanukkah to children.
– “Adoption and the Jewish Family” by Shelley Kapnek Rosenberg – This book, written for those interested or pursuing the adoption process, discusses the many possible unforeseen challenges that may arise from the adoption process from a Jewish perspective. This book is certainly one of a kind in the realm of adoption literature and still holds an enormous amount of truth even after 16 years since it was first published.
– “No Biking in the House Without a Helmet” by Melissa Fay Greene – This memoir describes the life of Melissa and her husband as they plan to adopt a child internationally, adding to their four children at home. Ultimately, the number of children rises to nine, and Green describes how her children find the path to Judaism. This book is not only a great memoir of an international adoptive mother, but also of an adoptive mother who raises her children in the Jewish faith.
